We bought this hutch after getting tired of raising chicks in a tub in the garage. The enclosed upper section, open run, and multiple access doors made feeding and cleanup more convenient. Before moving it outside, we painted it to match our flock, and it turned into a charming little home for our growing chicks.

We placed the hutch on a washable mat since the lower run is open-bottom, then added our own fleece, hideout, hay feeder, and dishes. The two-level layout gives our guinea pigs separate places to eat, explore, and settle down, while the front access doors make everyday feeding and cleanup much easier.

The ramp connects the lower run to the enclosed upper room, giving our guinea pigs more ways to move around during the day. Some stay near the hay and hideout below while another heads upstairs for a quieter spot. It’s fun watching each one choose a favorite part of the hutch.

The translucent roof panel lets light into the lower run while still covering the space above. It makes the inside feel brighter and gives us an easy way to look down and check the setup. It’s a small detail we ended up appreciating more than expected.
